TRAVIS CLAUDLE - NASHVILLE RESIDENCY GRANT RECIPIENT

Perth pop/rock singer-songwriter Travis Caudle has won a national grant that paves the way for him to spend three months living, networking and making music in Nashville.

The $15,000 Nashville Songwriter Residency grant was awarded by the Australia Council for the Arts – the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body – and helps covers his travel, accommodation and living costs.

The residency is being facilitated by renowned Australian musician and producer Mark Moffatt who has been based in Nashville for more than 15 years and who has worked with the likes of Keith Urban, Neil & Tim Finn, the Divinyls, Slim Dusty, Ross Wilson, Yothu Yindi, and Mondo Rock.

Travis, whose music has featured on US TV shows Gossip Girl and Flash Forward, said he hoped to head into the studio as part of the residency.

“As well as complementing the touring I’ve been doing in North America for the past three years, I’m hoping I can record my next EP while I’m in Nashville,” he said.

A total of 89 musicians applied for the grant from across Australia; two were successful in obtaining $15,000 grants.
