		WAM SONG OF THE YEAR 2010 NOMINEES ANNOUNCED The wait is over for songwriters throughout Western Australia, as 81 nominees in 16 categories are announced for WA's premiere songwriting competition - WAM Song of the Year! Now in its 21st year, WAM Song of the Year showcases the quality and diversity of WA’s songwriting talent across 10 genres, 2 school categories, 2 special categories ‘Mentally Healthy’ and ‘Love’, plus the bonus Regional and Indigenous categories. The Grand Prize winner walks away with $5,000 cash, a 3 day recording session, a mastering session, the pressing of 500 CDs plus an opportunity for a publishing deal with Perfect Pitch Publishing. A Most Popular Song public vote will be held in conjunction with our Online Partner, perthnow.com.au, starting 24 September. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, hosted at the Fly By Night Musicians’ Club in Fremantle on Wednesday 13 October. The message for WAM Song Of The Year 2010 is “Creating a Mentally Healthy Community” and WAM are proud to acknowledge the Mental Health Commission WA as our major partner. 		PPCA RECORDING & ARTIST REGISTRATIONS Registration cut off for PPCA’s current distribution: 15 SEPTEMBER 2010 If you are an Australian recording artist whose music is being broadcast or you hold the copyright in recordings that are receiving airplay, then you may be able to share in licence fees collected by the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia Limited (PPCA). PPCA represents and pays featured Australian recording artists and record labels in the same way that APRA pays songwriters and publishers. If you are already registered with PPCA, it is important that you notify them of all releases on which you are eligible to claim under the Artist Direct Distribution Scheme before September 15. Record labels do not notify PPCA of artist releases or registrations - this is the artist’s responsibility.
