WAM’s export development program focuses on activity at three international music trade events each year:
MIDEM (January in France),
South by Southwest (March in Austin Texas) and
CMJ Music Marathon (October in New York).
This activity has been supported by a small annual project grant from the
Department for Culture and the Arts , that specifically targets support for acts that have been selected to showcase at SxSW and CMJ.
Over the past couple of years, WAM have also delivered activity at these events on behalf of
The Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN), which has primarily been about partnering with
Sounds Australia to provide Australian artists and businesses with a structured and well promoted format within which to showcase and network.
We continue to maintain a close relationship with the organisers of
Canadian Music Week,
Music Matters,
The Great Escape,
Liverpool Sound City and
WOMEX. If you are interested in finding out more about these events then
contact us.
In addition to our presence at these international trade events, WAM has been bringing international speakers to Perth for the WAMi Festival since 2007.
Through all of the above activity we have developed an extensive international music industry contact list, which we are currently in the process of bringing into the industry contact database on this site.

WAM is currently reassessing this program as part of our ongoing planning process. Among possible developments for the future are developing showcasing opportunities with the US National Association for Campus Activities (NACA), the establishment of an “incubator” label, and the creation of a network of expats in various territories who are able to assist with local knowledge and contacts.
